What is hypnosis?
People often think the hypnotist has some power to control people’s minds without consent. This is completely false. The truth is the participants have to be willing.

Coming into Balance
Balance is not a static state, sometimes to find balance you have to go to the extremes to get a sense of where you need to be. This dance of balance between ease and effort, requires attention and awareness. The more you dance, the easier it is to find the sweet spot.

Are you Type A or B?
The human need to categorize and make sense of the world is the driver of many studies, conversations and therapy sessions. We seem to have a need to make sense of the world, creating convoluted interpretations and expressions that help us feel safe, connected, and in control. Then I stumbled upon this Rumi quote, Rumi was a solid Type B for sure.

Forgive, Forget, Let Go
Life is a journey with many side trips. The trick is to keep moving forward, pick up where you left off. Sometimes you need to forge a new trail or retrace your steps if you get lost. To help lighten the load for your journey, forgive what needs to be forgiven, forget what needs to be forgotten, and let go of what needs to be let go.

Change is an Opportunity
Viewing change as an opportunity to create something new has been incredibly helpful in flowing with life’s changes.

Our Overlord the Subconscious Mind
Did you know that 80% of our lives are controlled through our subconscious minds? All of our habits, daily tasks, and routines are run by our subconscious minds!

Life is Full of Choices
I choose what I think
I choose what I feel
I choose how I want to live

Yoda is my guru
“Do or do not. There is no try.” . . . Yoda
Try is very wishy washy, it lacks commitment. Lately, I’ve been “trying” to lose a little weight. Until I stopped “trying”, I didn’t lose any weight. Now that I have dropped the “trying”, I am actively working to lose those extra pounds. The word “try” implies possible failure, it gives you an out. So, next time you want to make a change or do something, just do it!

Space…the final frontier
Yoga Nidra is all about exploring our inner space. In my opinion, this is the final frontier, exploring our inner space, our subconscious and conscious minds, thoughts, emotions, energy, breath. All those intangible things that make us, us, yet we are aliens to ourselves.

Remember me?
The bees are ready for the fall sunflowers’ sweet nectar. Are you ready to fall into a sweet weekly Yoga Nidra routine?

Finding Joy In Unexpected Places
A year ago, last May, I experienced a moment of unexpected sheer joy. I had been plugging along working at a job that no longer gave me joy. This was the last month of my teaching career. Depleted and exhausted, counting the days until it was over, two friends invited me to watch something called Eurovision.

What is forgiveness
Recently, I made a mistake. I inadvertently double booked myself for two important events. Both events were scheduled long in advance and involved many other people. I don’t know what happened. Normally, I am pretty good at scheduling and checking to make sure there are no conflicts, this time however, I screwed up. When I found out about my mistake, it felt like I’d been punched in the gut. I felt nauseous, my heart sank into my stomach. Immediately, I sprung to action, notifying the people of one of the events of my error. I apologized profusely and asked for forgiveness for my stupidity. What happened next was unexpected.

Spring has sprung . . . maybe
Spring has sprung . . . maybe?
On this beautiful sunny, spring day, April 10th to be exact, I sit here relieved. Relieved that looking out my window is not a scene from Game of Thrones’ never ending winter. I joked with friends I expected to see white walkers at any time now, for those unfamiliar with Game of Thrones, white walkers are these zombie like creatures that exist north of the wall, in the frozen land where the wildlings live. All joking aside, one week ago, I was feeling bleak, uninspired, and as gloomy as the overcast sky. Today, I feel hopeful, inspired and ready to tackle procrastinated projects. What a difference a week can make. Fifteen inches of snow to green grass and blooming crocuses,
